Bourjois Lip Duo Sculpt

Image
Bourjois joined the ombre lip trend, albeit a bit late, with their new Lip Duo Sculpt lipsticks. I got two of the boldest shades in the selection, while a total of six exist. Texture:  These have a pretty standard creamy lipstick formula that's comfortable and has creamy shiny finish. They combine two shades in about 2:1 ratio with which you should be easily able to create an ombre effect. It does work, but due to a weaker pigmentation it takes a few swipes to really build up a fully opaque layer and you need to be very careful at how you place the lipstick on the lips again for a second swipe. 04 Plum'Set Beach  Plum'Set Beach is a combination of a violet-plum and tomato red, which is meant to look like a sunset. The plum is much less pigmented than the red, so it ends up looking really strange. I tried building this shade up, but the purple part is just too weak and it's more like a tinted balm than a proper lipstick.  06 Rouge Tango  Rouge Tango combines a deep an...

Bourjois Eye Catching Mascara

Image
Bourjois has a new mascara in their offering which is inspired by cats or better said the iconic cat eye look. The packaging features an embossed pair of kittens on the cap, otherwise it's a pretty standard looking mascara. It promises an eye-opening and volumizing effect, and while I agree with the latter part, it's the first that has left me a bit disappointed. The brush is asymmetrical with short bristles on one side and longer in a dome shape of the other. I can't use the side with the shorter bristles without creating a clumpy look, so I always just use the one with the longer bristles. That side catches the lashes nicely and fans them out decently, though the thick formula prevents it from looking very separated.  Formula is very creamy and there's always an excess on the brush at the tip. Despite the creamy and somewhat thick formula, when it was new this behaved like a light mascara with a silicone brush that just combes the lashes with one coat creating a natur...

Bourjois Le Duo Blush Colour Sculpting & Le Petit Strobler Highlighter

Image
Little Round Pots have been around for over 150 years and actually one of my first experiences with blushes was with one of these small Bourjois ones. They've come so highly recommended at the time of my first purchase (to be fair there were not a lot of blushes here over 10 years ago), but I felt very let down by the pigmentation, though at the time the only thing I had to apply these with was the useless brush that comes with it. The newest blushes come in a duo form, meaning you get two shades in one pot which you can wear in three ways. Another new product is the highlighter which is more on a subtle side. Texture: All the round pot blushes are baked and have a very hard texture. The latter is the reason only very dense brushes can pick them up properly, while the added brush is entirely useless. Pigmentation is relatively poor compared to most blushes, though these can be layered slowly and you get a good flush going, it just takes time and I never like that at a blush. Swatc...

Bourjois Satin Edition 24h Eyeshadow

Image
As far as my experiences go, up until I tried this formula, liquid eyeshadows were mostly a bust. Essence currently has super pigmented new ones, but they are so difficult to blend, I could hardly consider them as a product to slap on in a hurry. I've always been a stick eyeshadow fan ( Kiko's are very impressive), but these Bourjois ones are a pleasant surprise. Several shades exist in this line, I got two easy-to-wear every day shades. Texture: Unlike Essence ones, these don't have full opacity with one coat, instead at least two coats are needed for good colour pay-off. It ends up looking so nice, more like a natural tint on the lids. Blending needs to be carefully done, I tend use fingers for the first layer, while the top layer can already be blended with a brush and it's not removing the bottom layer or messing up with the blended edges. It's not as quick as stick eyeshadows, but I like the effect. Once it sets, the formula doesn't move, smudge, flake or...

New in #71

MAKEUP  *BOURJOIS Eye Catching Mascara The latest mascara by Bourjois which comes in an adorable packaging with cats embossed on the cap. The brush is a classic one and it's dented (has shorter bristles) on one side, while the opposite side is very bushy. Formula looks thick and very creamy, but it's not a super messy type of formula like Catrice Lashes to Kill Pro . At first it created a natural & separated look with one coat, while several coats gave a moderate amount of volume. Now it's dried a bit and the volume is built up faster, though it's not as defining as it was from the start. For an "eye opening" mascara I expected it to both lift and hold lashes, but it does neither of these things. In fact I really put an effort in curling, plus added a thin layer of a waterproof mascara under it and yet this just dropped my lashes completely. It's an ok mascara in terms of being volumizing, but it's not for me because I want lift too. 13.49 € BEYU B...
