Bourjois has a new mascara in their offering which is inspired by cats or better said the iconic cat eye look. The packaging features an embossed pair of kittens on the cap, otherwise it's a pretty standard looking mascara. It promises an eye-opening and volumizing effect, and while I agree with the latter part, it's the first that has left me a bit disappointed. The brush is asymmetrical with short bristles on one side and longer in a dome shape of the other. I can't use the side with the shorter bristles without creating a clumpy look, so I always just use the one with the longer bristles. That side catches the lashes nicely and fans them out decently, though the thick formula prevents it from looking very separated.  Formula is very creamy and there's always an excess on the brush at the tip. Though this is Max Factor's latest mascara, it's been a while since it launched and like most of their releases of the past years, it has a plastic comb. I like most of Max Factor's such mascaras because they know how to combine definition with great volume and particularly their Voluptious is amazing. Dark Magic mascara is nice too, but it hasn't quite wowed me as much as Voluptious. The plastic brush has short bristles and a double hourglass design. Since the bristles are short, it doesn't comb the lashes as easily as Voluptious and I need to comb them slower, so I can make sure I catch every lash, however, it's a far more comfortable brush. It's still great for definition and it deposits enough product on the lashes in two coats for a good level of volume, which is similar to Voluptious. Supersizer is one of the two mascaras I got in a swap from Canada , this one is in waterproof version. We don't have this brand here, but I believe it's a sister brand of Max Factor and many products share remarkable similarities, but there isn't an equivalent for this mascara. It features a quite unique brush with very short bristles and it's quite a volumizing mascara. The brush is thin with super short bristles and some slightly longer ones at the tip. This wasn't the best idea based on my experience because it's barely capable of combing the lashes, though mostly it doesn't, so it just deposits a lot of product, especially since the formula itself is very thick. I end up with a lot of product and volume, but very messy lashes, also the more you apply it, the higher the chance it starts to clump the lashes and creating clusters. Essence has a certain type of mascara formula that's in most of their mascaras and I'm referring to that wet, thick formula that is very volumizing and creates big lashes. This isn't it. It's the most atypical mascara I've tried from Essence and instead of volume, it's definition and natural look that's its forte. Unusually for Essence, the formula is very thin and not a lot is deposited on the lashes in one coat. It's also not a smudgy, messy mascara, nor does it create a clumpy effect. A couple of coats result in fanned out and perfectly defined lashes, but they still look natural, like there isn't much product there. I've had mine for a few months now and it didn't thicken. The brush is a plastic one with a combination of short and long bristles. It's a very rigid and hard one, so it can be harsh and I poked my eye with it a few times. This is one of the Volumin' Express mascaras that never reached Slovenia, so I got mine in a swap from Canada. It's got a flexible/bendy wand that had its brief moment several years ago and trying this mascara, I don't see the benefits of it. It's a mascara that excels that multiplying the lashes, but it has a very natural effect. The formula of this mascara is thin, so it doesn't deposit a lot of product on the lashes, instead it more tints them. My mascara is by now quite old and that usual thickening of the formula that happens at Maybelline didn't happen with this one, at least not much. It's the type of mascara that catches every lash, defines them and creates a natural effect of a lot of lashes that are emphasised, but don't have much product on them. They also stay soft and touchable. Catrice launched another version of Lashes to Kill mascara, this time in a pretty gold packaging. I had the original many years ago, which I bought because of the hype and I remember being quite disappointed because it just wasn't that special. As soon as I opened and tried this version, it reminded me so much of L.O.V. LASHseduction as it has the same type of super volumizing, but very wet and messy formula. A waterproof version of this formula exists too. Lashes to Kill Pro is a volumizing mascara that deposits a lot of product, so you can quickly get big lashes, but you can also quickly apply too much. When it was new it was very wet and applying more layers quickly resulted in a clumpy application, plus at me it also weighted down the lashes. I've had it for about two-three months now and it's dried up a bit, but it's still one of the thickest mascaras and it's still making my lashes drop. This is the first mascara from L.O.V. that I had a chance to try and one of the products that were added to their range in autumn. I did not get along with this mascara in the first months because it's the messiest, wettest and most gloopy mascara I've tried in a long time, so I kept waiting for it to dry a bit and become more manageable. I kept giving it chances every week or so, but there were no signs of it thickening for a very long time. It's three or four months now and it's still quite wet, but much easier to work with and it gives an insane amount of volume. This has a a standard brush with short bristles, so a type that is for depositing a lot of product on the lashes and not for combing or definition. In the past couple of years I've found some really good non-waterproof mascaras that manage to keep my lashes somewhat lifted and don't drop them immediately, so I've made a complete switch to regular mascaras because removing waterproof formulas every day is not the best thing for my lashes. I had the waterproof version of Lash Sensational a couple of years ago and I really liked it (despite the bad first impressions), so I was confident I'll like this one too. I've been using it for about two months now, pretty much every day and I had exactly the same experience as with the waterproof one, meaning disappointing first impressions, but in time this because a seriously impressive mascara that I consider one of the best in the drugstores. Lash Paradise, the US version of this mascara, is surrounded by a massive hype, but as far as I can see on social media, Paradise Extatic is on its way to a similar success. The tube of the European version isn't nearly as beautiful to me as the US pink one, which is either unintentionally or intentionally similar to Too Faced mascara, the latter is also often mentioned as a dupe. I guess they decided to follow the rose gold trend and at least to me kind of failed, since it just looks rosy brown due to a matte effect (a completely rose gold metal look mascara - now that would be something). I bought mine the moment it reached Boots International, so I opted not to wait for it to reach our drugstores, since I assumed my wait would be a long one.
