Rimmel Oh My Gloss! Lip Gloss

Image
It's been a while since I wore such a classic lip gloss formula, as most of my collection consists of those new-age lip gloss/lip balm hybrids. These contain argan oil and have a high shine, instead of the creamy glossy shine I tend to wear. Texture: It's a medium thick gloss with a nice comfy, non-sticky formula. It's nothing special, but it's a good one and it doesn't bleed. It's the shiniest gloss I currently own, but it would be more obvious if I had a clear shade or something that would look more even. Shade: 500 Ohh La La is a pinky red shade, even though it looks red in the tube. Pigmentation is sheer with one coat, second builds up the colour, but natural lip colour is still visible through. Staying power: It claims to last for 6 hours, but it's quite exaggerated. Just like most glosses the shine is gone within an hour, while a light layer of gloss persists for a couple of hours. Scent: This has quite a strong plastic scent that is not my favourite....

Catrice Dewy-ful Lips Conditioning Lip Butter

Image
Catrice launched yet another line of comfortable lip glosses which are actually pretty much the same in terms of formula to their old Beautifying Lip Smoothers , only the packaging is different as is the shade range. I'm not big on glosses apart from a couple of exceptions and these are definitely one of the exceptions because the formula is so comfortable. Texture : As I said before the formula is pretty much the same as Catrice's discontinued Beautifying Lip Smoothers, meaning it's a lip balm/lip gloss hybrid that's very comfortable, like a cushion on the lips, so I use it instead of a lip balm. It applies with not problems on the lips and I saw no bleeding around the edges. It's got one of those creamy looking shine finishes, similar to Max Factor's Honey Lacquers and Clarins' Instant Lip Perfectors Shade: Mine is the lightest shade of (sadly) only four and it's called 010 Yes, I DEW. It's a pale peachy-pink that I find too light for me because ...

Max Factor Colour Elixir Cushion

Image
I'll say Max Factor is really late to the party with these, but it's nice they added a range of such lip products. These are very balmy lip glosses with a sheer tint that especially those with dry lips will appreciate. Texture: The formula is similar to Honey Lacquers in terms of how they feel on the lips, so very comfortable and like they are mixed with a lip balm, though I think Honey version are a bit better because they have a slightly thicker formula (and more pigment). Pigmentation is sheer and these only give a tint to the lips. I applied them in a thick coat on my swatches, so you can see the colour, but they soon wear off to a lighter shade. 035 Baby Star Coral  Baby Star Coral is an coral-orange shade that gives a gentle orange tint to my lips. Pigmentation is sheer, so the natural colour of the lips will affect the colour a lot and the darker your skin tone is, it's likely the pinker it'll look. 030 Majesty Berry Majesty Berry's tube looks very intimida...

Max Factor Honey Lacquer Honey Nude

Image
I'm not one to wear lip gloss a lot and for years I've been more of a matte liquid lipstick kind of girl, though Revlon's Ultra HD Matte Lipcolour , which have a creamy-glossy finish, are some of my favourite because they are so incredibly comfortable. As absolutely stunning as Honey Lacquers look, I admit I'd never buy it myself if Max Factor Slovenia hadn't sent me the first shade which made me fall in love with the formula and did the impossible - made me buy a lip gloss after several years. I have a review of Honey Rose already - it's a very pale cool pink that I find unwearable, so I picked the shade that is more to my liking, Honey Nude, which I think is one of those shades that would likely fit just about everyone. Texture: I already talked about it in my original review, so I'll keep this short, focusing on the swatches, but it's a thick, creamy and quite pigmented lipgloss with a creamy version of a glossy shine. It's super comfortable and...

Pixi by Petra Lip Lift Max

Image
I'm not that familiar with Pixi apart from their super hyped up Glow Tonic with AHA, but I got this in a swap from Canada. It's the first lip gloss I've seen that claims it contains peptides, which are anti-ageing ingredients, but the rest is already more common such as the claim it hydrates the lips. In addition to that it's a plumping gloss, meaning it one of those minty ones that tingles at application.  Formula: It's a typical gloss and not one of those super comfy ones (like newest Max Factor Honey Elixir for example), instead it's just a classic non-sticky formula with a nice level of shine. It tingles when you apply it for that plumping effect, which so far never worked on me at any such product, but some swear they see a difference. It's not a strong tingle, but my lips aren't that sensitive to such things, so I might not be feeling the full effect. Shade: My shade is called Honey Sheen and it's a pale, warm slightly peachy nude with shimmer...

Essence Colour Boost Vinlylicious Liquid Lipstick

Image
Essence describes these as "opaque liquid lipstick with a vinyl finish" and I can't say they nailed it, but they are more pigmented than their usual glosses. There are 10 shades available ranging from nudes to bright shades and some reds.  Texture: While this is a thicker and more opaque formula than Essence usually makes their glosses, it's still a bit too sheer to be called a proper liquid lipstick. Usually with liquid lipsticks such as for example Rimmel's Apocalips you need one layer for full opacity, but here you need to layer it and when you do that the bottom layer moves like glosses normally do. At Apocalips and the likes that layer sticks better to one place and it's easier to build up. So this Essence one is more of a very pigmented lip gloss, though you can get full opacity if you wish, but you'll need more product and it'll move a lot. I've experienced some problems with bleeding and if you apply a fully opaque layer, you end up with a...

Max Factor Honey Lacquer Honey Rose

Image
Max Factor's been doing some pretty interesting launches recently, currently it's all about the Healthy Skin Harmony foundation, but before that Honey Lacquers were the centre of attention. Admittedly I'm not a fan of glossy lips, but this one is one of those that's balmy and comfortable, so on me it works as a lip balm substitute. These might be the most glamourous looking lip glosses in the drugstore, so they get my thumbs up for that. Texture: As you'd expected from the name this is a lip gloss-lipstick hybrid, so a very pigmented gloss that's close to full coverage. Compared to some others like Rimmel's Apocalips and L'Oreal's Lip Paints this isn't quite as pigmented, but light shades usually differ in pigmentation to the darker ones. Formula is comfortable, it doesn't move a lot, it isn't sticky at all and stays nicely even with time. Finish is shiny, or better said creamy-shiny and like at all such products the shine starts to fa...
