Essence Stay Cool Llama Highlighter

Image
Essence is no stranger to cute packaging and I admit I was drawn to this because of the cute llama, but I've had some luck with Essence highlighters, so I hoped this was another good one. It's very subtle, which is somewhat unusual for Essence's usual offerings. Texture: This is a smooth and finely milled powder, but it's tightly pressed and I tend to prefer more buttery formulas when it comes to highlighters. Pigmentation is weak and it reminds me more of illuminating finishing powders rather than a proper highlighter, especially if I apply only one layer. You see the glow just fine in strong light, but it doesn't create that very luminous effect like some Essence's other highlighters. The shimmer is fine in this with no extra larger chunks of glitter. Shade: There are three shades in this: a gold, a pink and a cool toned off-white, which all mix into a peachy looking shade with glow, though it's very pale. Price and availability: I bought mine in Müller...

Essence Go for the Glow Highlighter Palette

Image
This highlighting palette exists in two versions, a cool and a warm one. I have the latter called 02 the warms and apart from one shade, it's a cool palette, so this whole range is more suited for those with a cool undertone. These are described as holographic highlighters with a metallic glow. Texture: These are soft, buttery powders with an intense shine on the skin, though shades differ in quality. First shade is by far the best in the palette with a metallic eyeshadow-like texture, in fact I have used it as an eyeshadow and it works great, while the other two have a less creamy, more of a classic powder type feel to them.  Shade 1 First shade is a rose gold or dirty gold and it's the only I consider wearable and the one I use often, but it's already quite dark for my pale skin tone and I need to blend it out, so it doesn't look like I applied an eyeshadow on my cheeks. The glow is the strongest in the palette and it has fine shimmer that it doesn't look obvious...

Bourjois Le Duo Blush Colour Sculpting & Le Petit Strobler Highlighter

Image
Little Round Pots have been around for over 150 years and actually one of my first experiences with blushes was with one of these small Bourjois ones. They've come so highly recommended at the time of my first purchase (to be fair there were not a lot of blushes here over 10 years ago), but I felt very let down by the pigmentation, though at the time the only thing I had to apply these with was the useless brush that comes with it. The newest blushes come in a duo form, meaning you get two shades in one pot which you can wear in three ways. Another new product is the highlighter which is more on a subtle side. Texture: All the round pot blushes are baked and have a very hard texture. The latter is the reason only very dense brushes can pick them up properly, while the added brush is entirely useless. Pigmentation is relatively poor compared to most blushes, though these can be layered slowly and you get a good flush going, it just takes time and I never like that at a blush. Swatc...

Makeup Revolution Inglot Highlighter Rose Gold

Image
These come in to me three rather strange shades for highlighters, all were inspired by precious bars of metal. There's a stark silvery white inspired by platinum that would possibly look too white even on me, there's a very yellow looking gold bar that would suit dark skin tones and mine is a rose gold one with a strong pink tone. This is the second highlighter than impressed me from Makeup Revolution (first was Unicorn Heart). It appears they learned how to do finely milled glowy highlighters in the past tries rather well.  Texture: Formula is very buttery and pigmented, though you'll get that almost opaque super metallic look only if you apply it with fingers. Even with a brush you get a strong glow, I tend to use a thick big eyeshadow blending brush because I like a noticeable glow. It's a similar type of formula they use in their shimmery/metallic eyeshadows and as you can see on the picture where I'm wearing the highlighter, along the edge where I'm pickin...

Essence 3D Dewy Look Stick & Holo Wow! Sparkle Stick

Image
Essence launched a few new highlighting products in the last update, mostly notably a mermaid highlighter and there's also a highlighting palette, so these two highlighting stick versions sort of flew under the radar, at least that's the impression I got. Only these two exist, so the holographic one and the dewy one. ESSENCE 3D Dewy Look Stick 10 dewy is the new matte You don't see many of such highlighters, at least none come mind when I think about it, but its goal is to create a natural dewy/healthy skin effect without obvious shimmer. It has the same effect like using vaseline or a heavy, balmy moisturiser, meaning you get the greasy/wet looking shine. It's subtle and only visible when light hits it. When I swatched it and checked under a strong light, I noticed some tiny white shimmer in it, but it's not that visible once it's on the face. My main problem with this highlighter is that despite its claims it's a greasy product that feels just like vaseli...

Catrice California in a Box Bronze & Blush Palette

Image
Catrice again launched a ton of new products for spring/summer 2018 and this time they also included some interesting palettes. This one is an all-in-one type with two blushes, two bronzers and a highlighter, all in warm, summery tones. As far as Catrice powder products go, they are usually great quality, especially their blushes, but this palette didn't quite convince me. However, most of my fellow bloggers like it, so I'm in the minority here. Texture: Quality of the powders varies in palette. The top left coral blush is the second best quality here, but that's mostly because of the shimmer which is finely milled and has a highlighter effect. Blush has a good pigmentation, but it's a bit harder to blend than their Defining and Illuminating blushes (both discontinued). The second blush which looked a lot more my colour than the coral one, disappointed me with its pigmentation. When I tried to swatch it the first time there was no colour on my finger, but after I use...

Misslyn Mermaid Rainbow Highlighter

Image
I think it was last month that Misslyn launched Let's Be Mermaids collection, which contains a few highlighters in pretty boxes, a mermaid tail makeup brush and a few colourful liquid eyeliners. Misslyn has become known for their retro & cute cardboard packaging, which were originally a part of their Pop Art limited edition, but they added the products to their regular line and expanded the shade range as well as added more products. Quality of their powders has always been mixed, with some great stuff like their bronzers (I got the darkest one a while ago, but I reviewed it nonetheless here ) and their more powdery formulas of blushes, highlighter and mattifying powder. But this collection really surprised me with the quality, especially this highlighter that convinced me to get it for my birthday. There are two other highlighters, one is gold which is just excellent quality and will work great for warm undertones, and the other is a pink creamy one, which is the least glowy ...
