Essence Colour Boost Mad About Matte Liquid Lipstick

Image
I did not have faith that Essence is capable of doing such a great liquid lipstick, so when these launched I didn't even properly look at them. To be fair their Colour Boost Vinlyliscious  glosses that were released in the previous update did not impress me and these come in the same packaging, plus our Müller still doesn't have testers for these, so they were easy to ignore. But then I saw that they are actually matte on a swatch Lana made and before I had a chance to buy one, I was lucky enough to receive one in a shade I planned to buy. It quickly became a favourite for both the formula and the shade. Texture and finish: Formula is one of the thinnest such liquid lipsticks, but it's fully opaque with one coat and it sets properly matte in a minute, becoming completely transfer proof. It remind me Sleek Matte Me in terms of formula and the finish is also similar to Colourpop Ultra Mattes . It's less comfortable formula than for example Deborah Fluid Velvet Mat  for...

Catrice Glitter Storm LE

Image
Glitter Storm is this year's holiday LE by Catrice. It contains an eyeshadow palette, a gel highlighter, four metallic matte liquid lipsticks and thee shades of duochrome liquid eyeliners. Liquid Eyeliner C02 Eclectic Lilac Eclectic Lilac is a duochrome shade with navy and purple shimmer. It looks amazing in the bottle, but unfortunately it's not as impressive on the eyes. It ends up looking too dark for a proper navy shade and with a barely visible duochrome effect. The formula is sheer and you can't just apply it with an easy swipe because the product moves and you get sheer patches, so the only method that works is to place the applicator on the lash line and dab on the colour.  The applicator is a stiff wand and though you can do a wing with it (or dab the wing on), it's not a comfortable liner to use. It feels so much cheaper than the one in their black liquid eyeliner from the regular line. Staying power isn't impressive either as the wing wiped off and that d...

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor Embrace

Image
This is one of my most worn lip products and I just instinctively grab it on most mornings because I love everything about it, from the shade to the fantastic formula. This is my second one, while my first was Devotion, which was also one of my most worn shades up until I bought this one. Devotion is quite bright on my pale skin tone, but I just adored the formula of these so much that I picked Embrace which is a more neutral, nude shade. It's one of the shades that was added to the line later, while at first Devotion was the second lightest colour. I already have a full review of the formula in the Devotion post , so I'll just quickly go through it here and focus on the swatches. Formula: It's a very creamy, cushion-y formula that's fully opaque and has a creamy shiny finish. It takes a long time for it to sort of set matte, actually it's more about it wearing off and losing almost all of its shine, meaning in time it ends up looking closer to a matte stain than t...

Rimmel Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick

Image
These Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks aren't new, as I think they launched either last year or the year before that, but they reached our drugstores sometime in Autumn. Despite the rather impressive shade range (I think it's 14 colours), we only have 5 and not the easy-to-wear pinky nude shade Blush I wanted. I still treated myself to a classic red shade Fire Starter for my birthday way back in January. I love matte liquid lipsticks (you can see my collection here ) and I quite like this formula.  Texture: It's one of the creamier formulas, or more like a mousse, though not like Bourjois as it is more pigmented. One layer mostly covers the lips completely, but there can be some sheer areas, so it's sometimes best to apply two layers. It dries completely matte in a few minutes and I get no feeling of tightness, stickiness or dryness, though it can feel almost powdery and if I apply two layers, then it feels like there is a layer or product on the lips. Once this sets it d...

The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquid

Image
Matte liquid lipsticks are some of my favourite beauty products and I've done a post with 14 different ones a few months ago, so I was excited to try The Body Shops' formula too. These aren't my favourite ever (still theBalm ), but they have the type of formula that's similar to NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream , meaning they could be suited for dry lips too. I have three shades that were a part of the Christmas gift offering, but all the shades and more ( 17 in total ) are available individually.  Texture and finish: Formula of these is like I said before similar the mousse texture of NYX, also Bourjois'  are somewhat similar. They aren't as pigmented as others, which is most apparent at the darkest shade and they need more time to dry, but they do to a perfect matte finish. To me they don't feel drying, but like I said a million times so far, don't ask me if they are nice on dry lips, so check the review of my fellow blogger Lana  who praised them for their ...

My Matte Liquid Lipsticks Collection

Image
Out of all makeup products, liquid matte lipsticks are my favourite (though fragrances come close), so I've tried a lot of them and don't plan to stop any time soon. My lips are rarely dry and I can wear pretty much anything (for those who don't know, I've been using only  Palmer's Swivel Stick and Flipbalm  for years), so don't expect a type of an overview post where I'll say this one is great and this one sucks. The truth is that none of these are bad and every single one works great for me, however, yes, there are some that are more matte and I can assume that the formula won't work for those with more sensitive lips. Also bear in mind I only buy stuff that I see a good review of or I find interesting when I swatch them in the shop, so for that reason I don't have Catrice, Essence or even the otherwise praised L.O.V.'s version because I saw in the shop that they aren't matte. So following are 14 different types of matte lip creams from 13...
