Rimmel Maxi Blush 003 Wild Card

Image
Sometime in the summer Rimmel launched a new line of blushes which are more than twice the size of their Lasting Finish ones and they are available in four shades, three are sold here in Slovenia. The other two are #004 Sweet Cheeks, a peach, and #006 Exposed, which is a very interesting neutral beige-dusty rose looking shade in the pan, but it swatches light pink on my skin tone.   Texture: Compared to their old line of blushes, these are not as soft and are more tightly pressed. There is some kick-up and the texture could be a bit silkier, but I have such a dark shade that any texture is very unforgiving if you don't spend extra time blending it. My shade blends ok for such a deep shade, nothing out of the usual and the finish is matte. Shade: Wild Card is a muted deep peachy-pink shade which on my cheeks looks like a strong warm pink. It's the deepest shade out of the three we have here and I need to be very careful with it because it's too much almost with one swipe. ...

TheBalm Instain Blush Houndstooth

Image
I own a several TheBalm blushes which I rate very highly, but it took me ages to even notice the Instain range, which has some more unique shades. The idea behind these is that they stain the cheeks and therefore last really long on the skin. TheBalm always delivers when it comes to powder products and this one is not exception. Texture: Formula is smooth, though a bit less creamy than Hot Mama and Frat Boy . It applies and blends with no problems, while the pigmentation of Houndstooth is good, but not very strong like other shades in this range, so I don't have to be very careful with it on my pale skin. Finish is matte. Colour: Houndstooth looks like such a unique and interesting shade in the pan. It's a muted mauve-pink shade that I expected to look like a mix between a pink blush and a taupe contouring shade, but instead it ends up looking much warmer on my skin and a very classic looking pink. Initially I wasn't that impressed with the shade, though it's pretty, ...

Catrice Blush Box 020 Glistening Pink

Image
Catrice discontinued  Defining Blushes which for years were their "standard" range of powder blushes and I was a big fan of those because they were some of the best in drugstore. Their replacement Box Blushes were released this August and they come six shades. Texture: Compared to their discontinued Defining Blushes, these aren't as buttery or quite as soft, but that doesn't make them any less pigmented. They are more similar to their old Illuminating Blushes that were a bit more tightly packed, but still much softer than for example Bourjois' Round Pots or even Max Factor's Creme Puffs . It's actually just a run-of-the-mill classic blush texture that doesn't feel powdery and it's smooth. It applies and blends with no problems and creates an even result. Catrice rarely disappoints with their blushes (notable exception is their California in a Box which feels chalky compared to these) and this is just another great formula. Shade: Catrice rele...

Bourjois Le Duo Blush Colour Sculpting & Le Petit Strobler Highlighter

Image
Little Round Pots have been around for over 150 years and actually one of my first experiences with blushes was with one of these small Bourjois ones. They've come so highly recommended at the time of my first purchase (to be fair there were not a lot of blushes here over 10 years ago), but I felt very let down by the pigmentation, though at the time the only thing I had to apply these with was the useless brush that comes with it. The newest blushes come in a duo form, meaning you get two shades in one pot which you can wear in three ways. Another new product is the highlighter which is more on a subtle side. Texture: All the round pot blushes are baked and have a very hard texture. The latter is the reason only very dense brushes can pick them up properly, while the added brush is entirely useless. Pigmentation is relatively poor compared to most blushes, though these can be layered slowly and you get a good flush going, it just takes time and I never like that at a blush. Swatc...

The Balm Girls Getaway Trio Long-Wearing Bronzer/Blush

Image
TheBalm has some of the best blushes in my opinion and their powder products in general are really good quality. I have a couple of their blushes, actually two of their most popular ones, Frat Boy and Hot Mama . On a daily basis I prefer more muted shades, so I don't wear them as often as I would if they weren't as bright and peachy, but I do pick them up more often in the summer. The Getaway Trio Palette contains three of theBalm's latest blushes, Balm Springs, Balm Beach and Balm Desert, all looked to me as the types of shades I'd wear because they looked like theBalm's try at less bright shades. All shades are sold individually, while this palette is a limited edition and a great value, so it's be great if they made it permanent. Texture:  Based on my previous experience TheBalm blushes they have a lovely finely milled, silky texture and these are no different. Pigmentation differs in this palette with Balm Spring being the least pigmented, so I need two lay...

Physicians Formula Butter Blush in Plum Rose

Image
After a massive success of Butter Bronzers, Physicians Formula launched a range of Butter Blushes, which originally only came in two shades, but they later added two more, both in much brighter colours than the original two. I have one of the first two shades, Plum Rose, which is a completely unique shade in my collection. I had these on my wishlist for a long time because I heard some serious raves about the buttery creamy formula and I finally got one as a birthday gift a few months ago. I was so looking forward to trying one of these, but honestly, I felt a bit underwhelmed after the first use and I'm still not sure about it. Texture: Bronzer from this line is universally praised for its silky, buttery-creamy texture and the blush was described to have the same formula by reviewers, so I expected an almost cream-to-powder super pigmented formula, but this just isn't that special. From the start it behaved like a regular blush with a hard top layer and my thick blush brush b...

L.O.V. Cosmetics BLUSHLiason Dewy Gel Blush Stick

Image
I believe this is L.O.V.s first attempt at a cream blush in a stick form and it exists in only two shades, both are classic "starting out" colours for a brand. I have the pink 010, while 020 Alluring Peach is a peach shade which my fellow blogger Simona from Beauty of a Lemon reviewed and swatched  here . Texture: It's a semi-sheer formula that's more on a "creamy-greasy" side instead of that cream-to-powder silicone one that's more common in such blushes released in the past years. One swipe leaves you with a lot of colour, which you are supposed to blend with the brush on the other side, however, the latter is completely wrong for this type of formula as it just removes/shifts the product to another place without blending, so I much prefer blending and tapping this in with fingers. One swipe gives you a very gentle flush of colour (on my super pale skin), so it's best you build it up and slowly by concentrating the colour on the apples of the chee...
